About Arooj

I'm a civil/structural engineering graduate with plenty of Maths teaching experience, I've taught primary school aged children, through to my own peers in secondary/high school and university!

I am passionate about Maths and I promote a growth mindset, all too often I hear students say 'I'm bad at Maths' or 'Maths is too hard' and those same students after class tell me they didn't realise it was so simple :) it's all about working with the individual student to address their needs and learning style and creating a plan that works for the individual.

I'll work with you to address all of your learning concerns and work with you towards self-led learning- eventually you won't need me! Let's spread the love of Maths

About the lesson

Methodology
I teach students from primary school through to GCSE, selected modules at A-level and university (including functional skills exams). I work with the individual student to formulate a unique study plan and develop a growth mindset in them, utilising productivity techniques to make learning efficient!

Typical lesson
A typical lesson starts with a recap of the work since the previous session (or an assessment if it's your first lesson) then moves into the day's topic. I'm flexible towards study style, some students feel an hour session is more than enough, others want a focused study session of 2-3 hours to really get into a topic, let's discuss what works for you and what you need.

Holistic approach
I want to work with you to help you learn 'how to learn' and how to move towards self-led study, eventually eliminating the need for a regular tutor. We can discuss how you feel about Maths and work on real life projects which apply your knowledge to become more familiar with the subject. Or if you want we can simply focus on how to ace exams!

For A-levels my rates would go up to £40 per hour, please do get in touch to discuss which modules you are studying and we can work out the appropriate rates :)
