About Hazna
Hi! I’m a dedicated and approachable Math tutor with years of experience supporting elementary, middle, and high school students in building strong math foundations and growing their confidence. Whether your child is just learning their times tables or diving into algebra or geometry for the first time, I tailor each session to meet them right where they are. I believe that every student can succeed in math with the right support, encouragement, and tools. My approach to teaching is based on engagement, clarity and adaptability. I use as mix of the following methods:
Inquiry: I guide students through inquiry rather than just giving answers. This helps them think critically and retain knowledge better.
Scaffolded Learning: I build from foundational concepts, gradually introducing complexity in a way that feels manageable.
Real-World Context: I connect abstract topics to real-world examples and practical applications so the learning feels relevant.
Active Recall: This helps students to remember what they learn long-term.
Lessons are typically 45–60 minutes and structured like this:
1. Warm-Up / Recap (5–10 min):
o Briefly review key points from the previous session or quiz the student to activate prior knowledge.
2. New Topic Introduction (15–20 min):
o Break down the new concept using clear explanations, examples, and visual aids if helpful.
3. Interactive Practice (15–20 min):
o Work through exercises, problems, or case studies together. I prompt the student to explain their thinking aloud.
4. Review and Reflection (5–10 min):
o Summarize key takeaways, answer questions, and suggest targeted areas for independent study or improvement.
5. Feedback & Forward Planning:
o Give constructive feedback and set goals or tasks for the next session.
