About William

William is a graduate of the Royal College of Music and now shares his passion for music as a teacher at The King’s School, Canterbury and Streatham and Clapham School for Girls.

As an orchestral musician, William has performed with some of the UK’s leading ensembles, including the Royal Northern Sinfonia, the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, The Hallé Orchestra, City of London Sinfonia, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Concert Orchestra, and Welsh National Opera. Along the way, he has worked under distinguished conductors such as Thomas Adès, Pierre Boulez, Esa-Pekka Salonen, and Vladimir Ashkenazy.

William’s solo career has taken him to some of Britain’s most celebrated concert venues, including Wigmore Hall, the Purcell Room, Bridgewater Hall, and Birmingham Symphony Hall. A dedicated chamber musician, William was a member of the award-winning Ducasse Trio, performing repertoire for violin, clarinet, and piano.

About the lesson

Hi, I'm William and I offer lessons in clarinet, saxophone, and piano tailored to your individual goals, whether you're a complete beginner or working towards your next grade exam.

Together we'll build solid technique — from embouchure and breath control on wind instruments to posture and hand technique at the piano — alongside scales, sight-reading, and repertoire spanning classical, jazz, and contemporary styles.

Lessons are relaxed, encouraging, and paced to suit you, helping you grow in confidence and musicality while enjoying every step of the way.

He has an excellent understanding of the music syllabuses for all the exam boards and also for GCSE and A’Level music. I couldn’t recommend William more.
We originally met him as he taught my daughter saxophone at school. Now she has left, he is continuing to teach her, and comes to our house. He is an excellent teacher and she would never want anyone else! He is patient, supportive and kind, has a great sense of humour, and knows how to strike the balance with my daughter between getting the best out of her playing, but also making it fun at the same time. He has seen her through all her Grades with excellent results, just Grade 8 to go, but know we will always stay in touch with him. Any student would be lucky to have him as their teacher.
