About Alexandre
Alexandre Roux-Dufort stands out in Montreal as a rising talent in saxophone, composition, and arrangement. He strives to create a sensitive and personal musical universe by exploring soundscapes that straddle the line between jazz and impressionism. The stylistic hybridization results in music that is streamlined, calm, and colorful. Raised in France, Alexandre performed at several festivals in Canada and collaborated with renowned artists such as the Lost Fingers, Brunnemer and Neat Summa Orchestra. In 2023, he made his mark on the international stage by winning first place in the Léopold Bellan International Competition in Paris. That same year, he earned his Master’s degree in Jazz Performance from Université Laval, studying under saxophonist Janis Steprans. A gifted student, he also took lessons with renowned musicians such as Baptiste Herbin and Vincent Herring. -- FRENCH -- Alexandre Roux-Dufort se distingue au Québec comme un jeune talent du saxophone, de la composition et de l’arrangement. Il propose un univers musical sensible et personnel aux frontières entre le jazz et la musique impressionniste. De cette réunion stylistique se déploie une musique épurée, calme et colorée. Originaire de France, Alexandre s’est produit dans plusieurs festivals en Europe et au Canada et a collaboré avec des artistes de renom tels que les Lost Fingers, Brunnemer et le Neat Summa Orchestra. En 2023, il s'est illustré sur la scène internationale en remportant la première place au Concours International Léopold Bellan à Paris. La même année, il a obtenu son diplôme de maîtrise en Interprétation Jazz à l’Université Laval, dans la classe du saxophoniste Janis Steprans. Étudiant doué, il a également suivi des cours auprès de musiciens de renom tels que Baptiste Herbin et Vincent Herring.

From classical music to jazz, my teaching approach encourages the discovery of various musical traditions, arranged and adapted for the entire saxophone family. Each lesson combines practical tools, targeted exercises, and good habits for the saxophone. - Introduction & Beginner Level: Discover how the instrument works and develop the necessary foundations to start playing. - Intermediate/Advanced: Explore new exercises to refine your playing, get introduced to jazz improvisation, and expand your repertoire. Content: - Breathing and embouchure techniques and exercises - Building a personalized warm-up and practice routine - Learning essential saxophone repertoire (by ear or with sheet music) - Jazz improvisation - Exploring different musical styles for saxophone - - FRENCH - - En parallèle de ma carrière artistique, je nourris ma vocation pour l’enseignement du saxophone, de la théorie musicale et de l’improvisation.
