About Elysia
I have 13 years of teaching experience and hold a Master’s Degree in Violin Performance. My academic training included advanced bow mechanics, interpretive analysis, ensemble collaboration, and structured practice methodology. This educational background enables me to design progressive lesson plans that promote steady and sustainable growth.
Throughout my career, I have worked with beginners building foundational technique as well as advanced students preparing for auditions and formal recitals. I strongly believe that consistent structured practice, detailed correction, and patient mentorship are essential for long-term musical excellence. My teaching approach is disciplined yet encouraging, ensuring students feel both challenged and supported.
Teaching violin is deeply meaningful to me because it allows me to guide students toward technical excellence and artistic confidence. My violin lessons are carefully designed to develop accurate intonation, refined bow technique, balanced posture alignment, and expressive musical interpretation. At the beginning of instruction, I conduct a thorough evaluation of shoulder positioning, chin rest placement, bow grip flexibility, wrist relaxation, and left-hand finger accuracy. Establishing proper physical alignment is essential for preventing tension and ensuring consistent tonal quality. We begin with structured long-tone bow exercises to build sound stability and dynamic control, followed by slow scale practice to strengthen pitch awareness, coordination, and finger independence. I explain in detail how bow speed, pressure balance, and contact point influence tone color and projection.
As students progress, we introduce advanced technical skills such as shifting accuracy, vibrato refinement, double-stop coordination, string crossing fluency, and articulation precision. Each technique is practiced slowly before increasing tempo to maintain accuracy and comfort. Repertoire is selected carefully according to the student’s level and musical goals. We analyze phrasing, dynamic contrast, stylistic interpretation, and tempo transitions to develop artistic maturity. Detailed feedback and structured repetition ensure measurable improvement in both technique and musical expression.
At advanced levels, I focus strongly on recital preparation, memorization strategies, endurance building, and performance psychology. Students learn how to manage stage anxiety, maintain concentration under pressure, and communicate emotional depth to audiences. Simulated performance sessions are integrated into lessons to build resilience and confidence. My ultimate goal is to cultivate disciplined violinists who combine technical mastery with expressive artistry and strong stage presence in both academic and professional performance settings.
