About Sharon

Consultant

I am a qualified teacher with 30 years' experience in teaching and tutoring, specialising in English and entrance exam preparation for children from primary level through to 13+.

My particular area of expertise is 11+ preparation, where I combine high-quality English tuition with exam strategy, confidence-building and individual guidance tailored to each child.

More than just tuition

I work as an Educational Consultant as well as a tutor, supporting both the child and the parent through the secondary-school selection process.

I can advise families on:

Secondary school choices and entrance requirements
Preparing for 7+, 8+ and 11+ entrance examinations
11+ interview preparation and coaching
Building confidence and effective communication skills
Identifying a child's strengths and areas for development

About the lesson

English Tuition

I teach:

Reading and comprehension
Grammar, spelling and vocabulary
Creative and persuasive writing
Exam technique and time management
Practice papers and targeted preparation
General English from primary level through to 13+
Interview Coaching

For 7+, 8+ and 11+ interviews, I help children develop the confidence to express themselves clearly and naturally, think on their feet, listen carefully and respond thoughtfully — without making the experience feel intimidating.

My approach

Having taught and tutored for 30 years, I understand that every child learns differently. I take the time to get to know each pupil, identify what they need and build their skills and confidence step by step.

My aim is not simply to prepare a child to pass an exam, but to help them become a confident, independent learner who can make the most of their abilities.

Located in the Maida Vale/Queens Park area, I offer flexible tutoring options: at my home, your home, or online via Zoom.
