About Mike
Since 1967 I’ve played in many bands and seen many more. One thing I’ll never understand is how a drummer can play stone-faced and stiff! Drums are supposed to be fun! My goal is to teach you to learn to listen for the drums in a song, start with your hands, add your feet, and repeat motions that will eventually become routine. I introduce notes on a page to see the music as well as hear it and how they line up. We start slow and take baby steps. Within a year I am confident you can play in a band!

Most of my students have been kids wanting to learn drum set, with occasional snare drum lessons for school. But I have taught many adults as well. My primary purpose is to make it fun! I determine your skill level and build on what you know. I am convinced that anyone can play if they try!
