About Daniela

Since I obtained my degree in Hispanic Philology in 2009, the fundamental connecting axis of my professional career has been teaching Spanish as a foreign language. This is an option that has responded to a sincere interest in the transmission of knowledge around the language, but also to the commitment to a worldview in which interculturality and tolerance prevail, inevitably linked to mutual “discovery” and to the enrichment between different cultures. While I recognize that the acquisition of experience and knowledge must be a tireless premise, the activities that I have had the possibility of develop in the field of teaching Spanish anchor me in the safety of my professional practice in the classroom. Most of my experience focuses on the Anglophone field: leading advanced level conversation groups at the Language Center of the University of Cambridge; developing cultural activities and taking an active part in university life as a Fulbright Teaching Assistant in the United States; or being responsible for the programming and evaluation of Spanish courses to students assigned to different ages and levels in a school in the United Kingdom, leader in the use of ICT in the classroom. Also, for two years, I was responsible for the teaching of several Spanish courses at the University of Lisbon, in Portugal, under a program that includes in its bases the support to the Ministry of Education of the Embassy of Spain in Portugal in the organization of activities to promote the Spanish language and culture.

About the lesson

The teaching / learning methodologies of a second language have changed a lot since its origins and, although it is true that there is no infallible method, I prefer task-based learning, within the communicative method. Through this method, students learn the language with an objective, with communication and interaction being the most important part of this process (without leaving grammar or other components aside). This intention will always be based on the interests of the student, for whom the teacher will perform a prior needs analysis. In addition, it is necessary to provide the student with the necessary tools, so he can develop and continue his learning process outside the classroom, becoming an autonomous learner.
