I believe math is a language, not just a list of rules to memorize. My approach moves away from "plug-and-chug" formulas and focuses on conceptual fluency. I want my students to understand the "why" behind the logic so they can solve problems they’ve never seen before.
Here is how I share my knowledge:
The "Concrete-to-Abstract" Pipeline: I start with real-world scenarios or physical manipulatives. Once the intuition is there, we bridge into the symbols and formal equations.
Scaffolded Mastery: I break complex topics—like multi-step derivatives or algebraic proofs—into "micro-skills." We master one piece at a time to build unshakable confidence.
Interactive Visualization: I use tools like Desmos and GeoGebra to turn static numbers into dynamic graphs. Seeing a function move in real-time makes the theory stick.
The Socratic Method: Instead of giving answers, I ask "What happens if we change this variable?" This turns the classroom into a lab where students discover mathematical truths themselves.
Safe-to-Fail Environment: I treat mistakes as high-quality data. We analyze "wrong" answers together to uncover the underlying logic, removing the stigma of being incorrect.
