• Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

  ASL is my second language. I was born deaf and I learned ASL because of my interpreter and I didn't know how badly I needed to learn ASL.

• Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

  Thomas Hopkins met a deaf child and didn't know how to read. Thomas showed a book and wrote book then he taught ASL to her. Thomas set Gallaudet University for the deaf kids to go to school and interact with other deaf kids.

• Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?

  One of my favorite game that is part of the language I speak is ABC game which is a classified handshape game.

• Why does speaking this language matter to you?

  ASL is very important to me because in this world Deaf and hearing people are divided because we don't have much access to other people who are not willing to help or learn sign language. When hearing people learn ASL is helps to communicate to other deaf people when needed.

• What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

  One thing was hard for me learning this language was understanding and not socializing with other deaf people who knows ASL.

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

  One thing that will always be valuable for will be win 3rd grade because I met this deaf girl and myself is deaf, but I have Cochlear Implant to help me to hear. I didn't know how to communicate with her because I didn't learn ASL. I took an ASL club to communicate with her, but it became my second language.

• How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

  I went to a deaf school and socialized with lot of deaf students and it took me few months to get used to signing and signing fast in ASL.

• What makes you a Superprof in language?

  What makes me superprof by my language is helping people who are willing to learn ASL and help with their ASL homework. Also, being patient is the most thing that makes a superprof.
