About Marte

I've been dancing since 2006 and started my dance career as a Hip Hop dancer, and have later taken classes in Dancehall, Vogue, Afrobeat, Twerk and Reggaeton to expand my dance repertoire. It's important for me to always stay up to date on popular dance styles and moves, and constantly update myself on what's currently popular in the world.

I work as a dance teacher and have held several dance classes for children, teens and adults with varying durations in the different dance styles. I've been a dance teacher in Tromsø at Kulturskolen and at Salsademika, and I'm currently teaching at DanceLab, as well as having held private lessons since 2015. I also held workshops for children in Hip Hop and Dancehall during Arctic Jam 2019.

I have traveled as a dancer, and held workshops and performed in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2019 alongside the showteam of DanceLab. I have also performed at several different events in Tromsø as a dancer through the years, among others during 17th of May at Stortorget and at the dance schools' end-of-the-semester shows as part of the school's showteam. I also partook in DanceLab's show "The Back Alley Theatre" in february 2020 where I choreographed one of the pieces and was myself a dancer in several other pieces.

About the lesson

I offer private lessons, workshops and courses in several dance styles! You choose between Commercial Hip Hop or Dancehall which are my main styles, or you pick other techniques within my repertoire (including House, Twerk, Afrobeat, Reggaeton, Vogue, etc.)

All my classes and courses are tailored to your experience, and I personally follow up your progression so that you can get the most out of the classes you have with me.

The classes start with a warm-up, and then we go into the week's chosen techniques and moves within the chosen dance style. Depending on the time we have, you then learn a choreography or a short routine to music using the techniques/moves you learnt. I will base the class and routine on your goals, and we work together to achieve them. Each class is unique with new techniques and moves, and the difficulty level will be increased gradually so that you can progress as a dancer. The mood is cheerful and carefree with a focus on having fun while you learn!

The time of the class and duration can be agreed upon beforehand, but I recommend a minimum of 1 hour to 1.5 hours for the most value out of the class. The time for private classes are flexible and can be spread out according to what works for both parties. I'm very flexible on time.

We meet in a studio when the class is held in person after the time of class is agreed upon and paid for. The studio will be rented by me and is included in the price. If the class is held online with a webcam, I suggest that you have a large mirror available to you so that you can see yourself do the moves in addition to my explanations. It is not absolutely necessary, but makes life easier for you.

The prices listed apply to private lessons for 1-2 people and are per person.
My dance lessons last between 1-1.5 hours, so for a single class you pay 350 NOK.
For the 5 hour class package, you pay 1600. You save 150 NOK!
For the 10 hour class package, you pay 3200 kr. You save 300 NOK!

The first class with me lasts 45 minutes and is FREE. By doing this, we can get to know each other better and you will know what to expect before you commit to the classes.

For workshops and courses with several participants, we will discuss the price per e-mail. The price for courses varies with duration of the course and number of participants. The minimum course period is 4 weeks.

I offer workshops for companies, schools, leisure centers, and the like. For a simple workshop, the minimum price is 1500 NOK and can be more dependent on the number of participants.
A workshop lasts minimum 1 hour and can be up to 3 hours.

Prices are non-refundable.
