About Charlie
Having tutored secondary school students in a number of subjects in the past, including in Modern Languages, and received the highest grades possible in both subjects at all levels, it is a passion of mine to bring history to others. Tutoring is by definition history, public history, which is about allowing other people to access their own history with greater ease. Currently enrolled University College London for History, a university within the top 10 universities in the world for this discipline, I have had the privilege to meet world-class teachers which has greatly strengthened by tutoring. Ultimately, I will try my upmost to help my tutees and my experience and methods should render this endeavour fruitful.

1hr lessons will consist of techniques that both enabled me to succeed at secondary school level whilst also importing some higher level discussion in a university format.
A General Reading, such as a chapter on a general work about the course, will be set before session and the first 10 minutes will involve the student recalling why the reading was relevant and what they found most interesting about it. Following this, a specific section of the course will be focused on each session, such as Agriculture in the 17th Century, and the student will be subjected to a facts test based on content [it is impossible to succeed without having a "mastery" of the content of the course]. After this, we will go through the topic in more detail and frame some essay/question titles around the topic and make plans for these. These methods have been shown to be successful both in my academic career and in reports on teaching by the Department for Education.
