About Yulissa
I am a person that likes to be creative even though my degree will be in Finance and Management. I come from a bilingual home where anything less than an A was not acceptable but in college I did get some B's. I like to help out kids because it reminds me of when i was little and needed help myself. I had dyslexia and a lot of people were confused on how to teach me so I had to learn a lot of things on my own. Now that I have been doing this for 3 years i have learned how to structure things in a way to fit who I'm working with and help them accomplish their goals. All the kids that i have worked with and am currently working have gone from dreading doing their homework to coming home with report cards ready to hang on the fridge.

I teach in an old school format but it always seems to work. Have been doing a mix of virtual and in person since the pandemic hit. I graduated with my Associate degree in 2019 from East Field Community College, and will graduate this semester from UT Arlington with my Finance and Management degree. I Specialize with kids with learning difficulties. I myself have dyslexia and since i can relate to the difficult and the mind set that a lot of the kids i work with have i am able to structure the work and learning environment to work for them. I have had kids that start off not knowing their alphabet start reading 3 months into sessions. It all varies from student to student and the effort and time that is put into the work. I work best with math and reading. I also work with other subjects such as History and science but they are mainly for homework help. I am bilingual and also tutor people learning Spanish or English.
