About Jeff
I am a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with professional experience in Big 4 audit and corporate finance. Throughout my career, I have worked extensively with financial reporting, accounting processes, internal controls, and financial analysis for large organizations. This experience allows me to explain accounting concepts not only from a textbook perspective but also through real-world examples used in business every day.
In my professional roles, I have also spent a significant amount of time mentoring colleagues and helping others understand complex financial concepts. I enjoy breaking down complicated topics into simple, logical steps so that students can build confidence and truly understand the material.
My background includes financial accounting, managerial accounting, auditing, financial statement analysis, and Excel-based financial modeling. I particularly enjoy helping students understand the accounting cycle, journal entries, debits and credits, and how financial statements connect together.
Outside of work and tutoring, I enjoy staying active and pursuing a variety of interests. I’m passionate about fitness and personal development and am currently studying for my NASM Certified Personal Trainer certification. I also enjoy cooking, exploring new restaurants, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
I value curiosity, discipline, and continuous learning, and I try to bring that same mindset into tutoring sessions. My goal is to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing confidence in their abilities.
I also enjoy connecting accounting concepts to real business situations so students can see how the material applies beyond the classroom.

My Approach as an Accounting Tutor - My goal as a tutor is to help students truly understand accounting rather than simply memorizing rules or formulas. Accounting can feel overwhelming at first because many courses move quickly and assume students immediately grasp foundational concepts like debits, credits, and financial statements. I focus on breaking complex topics into simple steps and connecting them to real-world examples so the concepts become intuitive.
Teaching Method & Techniques - my teaching approach is highly practical and interactive. I begin by identifying where the student is getting stuck—whether it’s understanding journal entries, financial statement relationships, or specific homework problems. From there, I walk through the concept step-by-step, explaining not just what the answer is, but why it works.
I often use visual explanations, examples from real companies, and simplified frameworks to help students see how accounting flows through the entire business cycle. I also encourage students to solve problems alongside me so they can build confidence and independence.
A typical session includes:
• Reviewing key concepts from class or upcoming exams
• Walking through practice problems step-by-step
• Clarifying confusing topics like debits/credits, adjusting entries, or financial statements
• Reinforcing concepts through additional examples or exam-style questions
My goal is that by the end of each session, the student not only understands the material but also feels more confident tackling similar problems on their own.
What Sets Me Apart - what differentiates me as a tutor is my combination of academic and real-world experience. I’m a CPA with professional experience in Big 4 audit and corporate finance, so I’ve seen how accounting concepts are actually applied in major organizations. This allows me to explain concepts in a way that connects classroom learning to real-world business situations.
I also focus heavily on simplifying accounting. Many students struggle because topics are explained in overly technical ways. I specialize in translating those ideas into clear, logical explanations that make the subject much easier to understand.
