About Tim
I'm a professional writer and content strategist with 7+ years of experience translating complex subjects into content people can actually understand, including leading editorial teams and managing high-volume publishing schedules. I hold an English degree from the University of Southern California, and that same skill set has carried me from lifestyle brands into crypto research.
For the past several years, I've focused on crypto and DeFi research, analyzing protocols, tokenomics, incentive structures, and on-chain data while publishing long-form educational content. I'm not a trader chasing signals, nor am I a developer speaking in code. I'm a researcher and educator whose job is to make sense of a genuinely confusing industry honestly, critically, and objectively.
I've also lived through the mistakes I now teach people to avoid—FOMO buying tops, panic-selling bottoms, overtrading, chasing worthless airdrops, and learning expensive lessons about risk management—so I understand crypto from the inside, not just from a dashboard. That combo of professional writing proficiency and real on-chain experience is what I bring to every lesson: patient, structured, and honest.
My goal as a tutor isn't to make you an expert overnight; it's to make sure you never feel lost, rushed, or unnecessarily frustrated. MY TEACHING METHOD:
I don't teach charts and hopium; I teach rational and critical thinking. Most crypto education either drowns you in jargon or hypes you into bad decisions. My approach strips both out: plain-English explanations of how DeFi, NFTs, memecoins, and the broader crypto landscape actually work, backed by real on-chain data and current narratives, with an equal focus on the psychology that makes or breaks most investors.
No wall of terminology, no assumed knowledge, just clear step-by-step logic, building from wherever you're starting.
Sessions are one-on-one, available online or in-person in Los Angeles, typically 60 minutes.
A TYPICAL LESSON:
Each session starts with a quick temperature check: what's on your mind, what's confusing you, what decision you're trying to make calmly instead of emotionally.
From there, we go hands-on: pulling up real dashboards (Dune, DefiLlama, block explorers) to look at actual protocols, tokens, and wallets together, rather than talking in the abstract. We'll break down one core concept per session—lending/borrowing, RWAs, perps, memecoins, wallet security, whatever's next on your path—and connect it to a real example you can see live on-chain.
Sessions close with a short "risk mindset" recap, because managing your emotions is honestly harder than understanding the tech.
WHAT SETS ME APART:
Most crypto tutors are either traders selling signals or developers explaining code. I'm a researcher and writer whose work has been recognized by Solana Collective, and my focus is investor psychology and financial literacy, not stock picks or "gem" calls. By the end, you'll be able to independently research a protocol, read a wallet, and catch your own emotional red flags before they cost you money.
