I have known Karine ever since I started learning English, more than 10 years ago. My English level was quite low, with a very basic knowledge of grammar and a narrow vocabulary, and I was quite keen on improving my fluency. Since then, I have improved immensely, going from barely being able to hold up a simple conversation to watching movies, reading books and discussing various topics in English. As I know there is always room for development, I continue with my studying, scheduling weekly lessons with Karine.

Throughout the years that I have studied with her, she has proven herself to be a good teacher, adapting her teaching techniques to her students’ needs and level, as well as keeping her mind open to suggestions, a very important characteristic in any profession, but especially in one having to do with other people’s learning and advancement.

While the focus of Karine’s teaching program is primarily speaking and conversing in English, improving the fluency of the student through practice, she has managed to integrate other aspects of the language, such as reading and correct usage of the grammar rules, as well as promoting the students’ ability for self study. In our current arrangement, Karine sends me an article she has picked out for us to discuss the upcoming lesson. During the lesson she helps me construct and properly express my opinion on the matter, and corrects my grammar mistakes, all in a kind, patient and non judgemental manner. I find this method very helpful and satisfying, because it allows me to both enrich my vocabulary and practice English, as well learning more about topics I wasn’t familiar with before.

I have found in Karine a warm and kind person, a patient and adept teacher. Her attentive style and creative, open minded approach to teaching English as a Second Language are one of the main factors in my ability to master the English language, and I warmly recommend for any teaching position.
