About Pamela

I found my way into teaching through tutoring a painfully shy cousin years ago, someone who refused to speak a single word of Spanish in front of anyone. Reluctant teenagers, frequently pushed into lessons rather than choosing them, need a similarly gentle entry point before real engagement becomes possible. Simple games open most sessions here, turning vocabulary practice into something closer to play than performance. Speaking gets introduced gradually, starting with short, scripted exchanges before any spontaneous conversation is expected.

As comfort slowly builds, role play scenarios become central, letting students practice speaking through a character rather than as themselves directly. Shy learners often find this indirect approach far less intimidating than being asked to simply talk about themselves. Reluctant teenagers respond well to competitive, game based exercises, where language practice feels secondary to winning or completing a challenge. I keep correction light and encouraging throughout, since harsh feedback tends to shut down already hesitant students almost instantly.

I remind parents and students alike that comfort must come before fluency, not the other way around. Forcing confident speech too early usually backfires, creating anxiety that lingers far longer than any grammar mistake would. Games and topics tied to genuine student interest keep sessions from feeling like another obligation. My focus throughout remains patient, helping every learner find their voice gradually and genuinely.
