About Ben
I am a full-time composer/musician. I play multiple instruments - most happy on guitar, violin and clarinet. I love to improvise and am proficient with many bits of musical software (I mainly use Reaper and Ableton). My work as a library composer/producer has been featured all over the world (BBC1, ITV, Netflix, Call of Duty Trailer) My ‘art’ music has been featured in The Guardian (folk album of the month in Jan 22), on BBC 6 Music (Iggy Pop, Zakia Sewell). I have received funding from PRS Foundation and Help Musicians to further my musical career. I perform live using Ableton and multiple instruments. I have featured on Great British Bake Off playing fiddle with my ceilidh band. My introduction to music wasn’t through passing grades and jumping through hoops and I think at times that approach can dampen musical spirit and even confidence. Initially self-taught on a number of instruments, I cemented this via completing a BA Sonic Arts (2:1) in 2008. I taught instrumental techniques for 10 years (guitar, violin, cello) guiding students up to grade 5. During this time I have also (and continue to) work with vulnerable people (in SEN settings, adults with dementia). I find this work incredibly rewarding.
