About Avery
ESL is part of a nine-year tutoring career during which I have taught 400 students, many of them adults building new lives and needing practical daily English skills. My background includes practical, hands-on experience gained through working closely with newcomers navigating a new country rather than purely formal classroom study. I keep my teaching relaxed and encouraging, since I understand how intimidating it feels to speak an unfamiliar language out loud in a new environment. Many students arrive worried about sounding foolish, and helping them relax into natural, confident speech is genuinely one of my favorite parts of teaching.

My ESL lessons focus on practical, everyday conversation from the very first session, since most of my students want genuine usable confidence rather than purely academic knowledge picked up from a textbook. Grammar is introduced gradually through patterns noticed in real dialogue, and I revisit tricky structures naturally across several sessions instead of expecting instant mastery all at once. Vocabulary is grouped around real situations like work, healthcare, and daily errands, since personal relevance makes retention far stronger than isolated word lists memorized alone. I share short voice recordings after each lesson so students can review pronunciation at their own pace between sessions consistently.
