About Alessandra

As a Clinical Psychology PhD student with psychology degrees from UC Berkeley and Columbia University, I understand both the academic demands of psychology and the challenges of applying to competitive graduate programs. In addition to my graduate training, I've worked as an ABA therapist supporting children and families and taught Arabic to college students. Some of the most rewarding parts of these experiences have been mentoring, teaching, and helping others build confidence in themselves.

One of my long-term career goals is to become a clinical supervisor, professor, and educator. Because of that, I genuinely value every opportunity to mentor students and continue developing my teaching skills with you. I want our sessions to feel collaborative, encouraging, and tailored to your individual goals.

I believe the best learning happens in a supportive environment where questions are encouraged and students feel comfortable asking for help. Whether we're reviewing psychology concepts, strengthening your writing, preparing for exams, or working on graduate school applications, I'll provide thoughtful, honest feedback while helping you become a more confident learner.

About the lesson

Hi! I'm a Clinical Psychology PhD student with psychology degrees from UC Berkeley and Columbia University. My goal is to use my experience and knowledge and help you with whatever you need, whether it's psychology or graduate school related.

My teaching style is collaborative, flexible, and personalized. I know everyone learns differently, so I always start by understanding your goals and where you're feeling stuck. Together, we'll make a plan that fits your needs and learning style.

If we're working on psychology coursework, my goal is to help you truly understand the material rather than just memorize it. We'll break down difficult concepts, connect them to real-life examples, and work through assignments or exam preparation together until you feel confident.

If you're applying to graduate school, I can help you with every step of the process, including choosing programs, brainstorming and editing personal statements, refining your CV, preparing for interviews, and thinking through application strategy. I know how overwhelming the process can be because I've been through it myself, and I want to help make it feel more manageable.

I am open to working with high school students exploring psychology, undergraduate psychology students, and students applying to master's, Psy.D, or Ph.D programs. I hope together we can get you closer to figuring life out, achieving and creating goals, and of course, building a strong CV! I LOVE questions and want our sessions to feel fun, organized and productive. I have been where you are. It's hard. I feel deeply moved to share my experience and help others in any way that I can.
