About Sophia

I have been a private cello teacher over the course of the last 20 years, and have 34 years experience playing symphonically, in small ensembles, and as soloist. I was principal cellist of Region XIII Orchestra my senior year, a Texas, All- State Orchestra winner, a medal-earning soloist, was a member of Houston Youth Symphony, and principal cellist of the Brazosport Symphony Orchestra for a number of years. I have beginner through early intermediate experience playing viola and violin, and read treble, alto, tenor & treble cleffs. I've been singing for well over 20 years, and was trained in that for a total of 5 years. I am passionate about teaching music. My brightest student attended University on a full, music scholarship, toured the world as part of Michael Bublé's Orchestra, and is now working toward her Master of music in Cello Performance. I am excited to pass on my love of music and playing or singing to your student!

About the lesson

I approach each class by evaluating at what skill level the student is. It's important for me to discover also why they want to play or sing. Once these topics have been addressed I will create a learning plan that is tailored for that student.
