About Matthew
Born and bred in Hong Kong, I have been speaking Cantonese, English and Mandarin since I was a kid. As I grow older, I become more and more interested in language learning. When I began my university studies, I majored in Translation (Chinese and English) and decided to learn two other new languages as well. That's how I became familiar with the linguistic differences between Chinese and English, as well as the process of learning languages as an adult/young adult.
Learning a language can take up quite some time and it's absolutely normal if you have struggled a bit with the grammar, characters, pronunciation or anything (been there). I'm here to help you with that! :)

Being an experienced language learner who's also passionate about cultural exchange, I enjoy helping people who want to learn my native language and I know exactly what you need when starting to learn a new language, or expanding your knowledge of it.
So here's my plan: 1-1.5hr/session (depending on your preferred pace) that covers key grammatical items, cultural info and conversation practice. I will propose a set of themes for lessons but all are flexible so please feel free to propose any that interests you (interest is what keeps you going!). This arrangement is most suitable for beginners, learners with basic knowledge, and those who want to learn for academic/professional purposes.
If you are looking for a short-term one to learn survival Chinese for trips or anything, I've got your back! The lessons can be made as practical as you wish.
