About Danik

I am a 15-year-old boy holding an official first-category chess ranking. I am experienced with chess; I played it all my childhood and in professional tournaments. The strong part about me is that I can teach and explain to everybody, whether you are old or young, have no experience, or are even blind.

About the lesson

My Approach: I teach the way I wish I'd been taught! I clearly remember being a beginner myself and the common challenges new players face. My lessons focus on learning by doing and enjoying the game: Solid Foundations: We start with explanations of rules, piece values, and core principles (controlling the center, developing pieces, king safety). Learn Through Play! Theory takes just 10-15 minutes – the rest is hands-on practice! We’ll play short games, analyze your moves together, and spot simple tactics (like forks and pins) in your own games which will help the progress. Debuts/Endgame learning. I teach simple and useful openings to use and mastering your ability to finish off the games in the end (Queen and King vs King). Puzzles = Adventures: I use fun mini-games and puzzles ("Find mate in 1!", "Capture the most pawns!", "Spot the best move!") to make learning stick and sharpen your board vision making you significantly better in game. Learning from Mistakes (Positively!): Reviewing your games is crucial for growth. I’ll help you understand why a move was strong or weak and how to improve next time – all in a supportive, stress-free zone! Tailored Focus (Especially 1-on-1): I pay close attention to what you or your child finds tricky and adjust our focus accordingly. Lesson Format: Private Lessons: 45-60 minutes – Perfect for deep dives into specific topics and personalized game analysis. Small Groups (2-4 students): 60-75 minutes – Maintains personal attention while adding fun peer play. My Experience & Qualifications: Active tournament player holding a verified Irish 1st Category ranking. Competed in school and local tournaments (understand the competitive side). Fresh Learning Perspective: Having recently progressed from beginner to category player myself, I intimately understand the learning journey for kids and adult starters. My lessons offer an "insider's view" of mastering the basics. Perfect For: Kids (ages 6-7+) & Teens taking their very first steps in chess. Adult Beginners wanting to learn "from scratch" or refresh basics without heavy theory. Anyone seeking a relaxed, energetic, and affordable way to discover chess this summer!
