About Sara

I am a certified teacher under the Ontario College of Teachers, holding two degrees, one being a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Bachelor in Education. I am currently qualified to teach children from kindergarten to grade 6. I can provide tutoring in a variety of subjects, such as math, English, science/health, and social studies. I also offer homework help if this is better suited. I have been working with children in a classroom setting for 6 years and have been a certified teacher since January 2024. I strive to help my students build confidence and enjoyment for subjects they may be having difficulty with and prioritize making a safe and comfortable learning environment for all learners. I additionally have experience teaching children within special education programs. Such as children who hold learning disabilities, or have autism and Down syndrome. I will hold additional qualifications in teaching special education starting June. Although I am happy to regardless tutor students with diverse needs starting whenever.

About the lesson

Teaching Methodology and Techniques: As an educator, I focus on creating a student-centered learning environment. I believe every child learns differently, so I tailor my teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each student. I incorporate a variety of strategies, such as visual aids, and interactive lessons, to ensure that each student grasps the material. I also emphasize building a strong foundation of basic skills, and critical thinking. I try and make learning fun, whether it's through fun games, storytelling, or digital tools, I strive to make lessons both effective and enjoyable when possible. A Typical Lesson Plan: A typical lesson with me begins with a brief review of the previous session to ensure understanding. Then, I introduce the new concept through a discussion, followed by guided practice. I encourage students to ask questions and make connections to their own experiences. After that, we go through independent practice where the student works through problems or activities, with my support as needed. Finally, we end the lesson with a recap and a quick review of what was learned. I also can provide additional resources or homework to reinforce the lesson. My goal is always to keep the lesson interactive and flexible, adjusting based on the student's pace and learning style. What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor: What sets me apart is my ability to adapt to each student's unique learning style and pace. I’m patient and compassionate, and I strive to build a positive relationship with my students so they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My lessons are not only about mastering content, but also about instilling confidence, curiosity, and a growth mindset in students. I use a wide range of tools— from tactile learning materials to online resources— to keep lessons engaging and diverse. Most importantly, I aim to make each lesson fun and interactive, as I believe students learn best when they are genuinely enjoying the process. Who the Lessons Are For: My tutoring services are designed for students in Kindergarten through Grade 6. I work with learners at various levels, from foundational skills in reading and math to more advanced topics in science, language arts, and social studies. I help students who may need extra support, as well as those looking to accelerate their learning.
