Drawing on my formal training from a top Normal University in China and my Chinese Teaching Certificate, I adopt student-centered teaching techniques that align with young learners’ cognitive habits—instead of rigid rote memorization, I integrate interactive games, colorful visual aids (such as picture cards and character puzzles), storytelling, and real-life scenario simulations (e.g., role-playing daily conversations like greeting others, talking about food, or describing their hobbies). As a TEM-8 holder, I can provide clear bilingual support when needed to help students understand tricky concepts, but I prioritize Mandarin immersion to build their listening and speaking confidence over time.
A typical lesson lasts 45 to 60 minutes—this duration is carefully chosen to match primary students’ attention spans, with a 5-minute break halfway through for younger learners to stay focused and motivated.
