About Ashley

I'm the founder of MasterChinese in Melbourne since 2021. We provide Chinese classes to all-level adult second-language learners.

My office is located at CBD of Melbourne, Australia. We offer variety range of Chinese tutorial for adults, including HSK Preparation, Conversational Chinese, Business Chinese etc.

I have obtained a Bachelor's degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. I completed my Master of Education at Monash University. I've been working as a private Mandarin tutor since 2018. So far, I've taught over 200 students from over 20 countries with approximately 10,000 teaching hours. My students successfully passed HSK3 (intermediate level) with an average of 294 (out of 300) scores.

It is not only a place to support your Chinese language learning, but also a hub where provide immersive and cultural events for you to experience Chines culture in Melbourne.

HSK Preparation
HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) is known as the Chinese Proficiency Test, an international standardised test of Chinese language proficiency,assesses non-native Chinese speakers’ abilities in using the Chinese language in their daily, academic and professional lives. The Preparation course equips the learners with a comprehensive and systematic tutorial so as to enable them to receive the satisfying results. In addition to the regular HSK test instructions, a wide range of topics are covered, as well as vocabulary and grammar from everyday life to academic life.

Conversational Chinese
This is designed for students who would like to boost oral Chinese skills. The course is utilised the task-based language learning pedagogy that embeds the real-world communication task into the classroom settings to facilitate daily communication needs. In each lesson, wide ranges of topics, such as making an inquiry, expressing needs, making appointment, etc will be selected and discussed during each lessons. Sample sentences, basic grammar as well as conversation practice are also included. Student is expected to apply and integrate the content into the authentic context.

Business Chinese
The Business Chinese course is designed for learners who need to communicate formally in the workplace. Students should have the ability to communicate on a daily basis and an understanding of Chinese society and culture so that they can communicate professionally and naturally in a formal setting.

About the lesson

In terms of the adult tutorial, each session lasts for 50-min, including warm-up, vocabulary, sentence structure, language point, conversation and practice. If you are keen to improve conversation skills, situational dialogue or role play would be embedded into the session to practice the daily topic in the real-world context.
