About Lina
MATHS
Maths is usually the subject students struggle with most at school mainly due to the lack of individual help during lessons. Students often don’t ask for help when faced with a topic they find hard and so they develop gaps in their learning, which in itself become problematic later on. In my opinion the first objective of private tutoring in maths should be to systematically deal with those gaps, which are usually identified within the first couple of lessons. Once the gaps are covered, we can then proceed to cover the necessary course material based on individual requirements.
ENGLISH
Regarding English language study, I offer help in all areas of grammar, spelling and vocabulary enrichment, being able to inspire students to pursue a depth of knowledge and understanding of the subject, regardless of students’ previous abilities. I have experience in teaching students of all age groups and levels.
The struggles students of English literature face at school are not so much to do with their understanding of the works studied, but with the analysis of those works. Being able to write analytically about poetry or prose is an acquired skill, rather than a natural gift. Furthermore, while a student is inspired by a given work of fiction and can provide good analytical comments on it, very few have an innate understanding of how to structure an essay or an extended answer in which to communicate their analysis of the work. I’ve been helping students with literary analysis, essay writing and structuring for over 10 years, having successfully transformed many students from merely inspired readers to skillful analysts of both poetry and prose, thus helping them reach their highest potential in school tests and examinations.
ESL
I received my Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA), the most widely recognised English teaching qualification in the world, in 2010. Since then I've taught general English and have been preparing students to sit the Cambridge certificate exams - PET, FCE, CAE and CPE.

Going over the material in a calm, friendly atmosphere, away from the pressure to perform in front of other students can work wonders for any student.
I aim to help students rid themselves of stress and anxiety over school work by breaking down the material for them into small, manageable chunks. I focus my efforts into delivering the material in a way that suits the individual student.
