About John
I studied applied linguistics in my university and have been teaching both online and in a classroom setting for more than 6 years. I have taught both English and Cebuano to young and adult students.
Since I am a linguistics major (the study of languages and its structure), I can teach any language I know. A language teacher must not only know how to speak the language but HE MUST ALSO KNOW HOW TO TEACH IT THE RIGHT WAY -- something that I can do.
I was also a language student when I first studied Japanese, so I know how tough it can be to learn a new language. Don't worry! I'll help you find a suitable strategy for you to learn the language better!

I normally use a communicative approach to language teaching. This means that the students will get to learn the language by speaking and creating sentences themselves.
If the student wants to learn the structural approach -- meaning learning by understanding how sentences are put together, then I mostly give grammar lessons with plenty of exercises in making sentences and correcting grammar mistakes.
The first rule is to learn how to pronounce better, so the lesson will start from there. It will be followed by learning vocabulary and forming complex words. The lesson will then proceed to sentence construction and sentence analysis, meaning you will need to explain the meaning of the sentence and why it is formed that way. Afterward, we will learn how to use the language in real situations and some important rules in speaking the language (politeness, turn-taking, etc.)
This lesson structure is not fixed. This means that everything will still depend on what you need and how much you know about the language, so please be honest about what you want to learn and why you want to learn the language.
