About George
I am a recent graduate from the University of Cambridge, where I studied geography and completed an advanced (C 1 Level) French language course. My first experience tutoring was while at school, when I tutored younger students mathematics, French and statistics. Having enjoyed this so much, while at Cambridge I taught in all of my summer holidays. In my first summer holiday, I taught English to students aged 6-12 in rural China, where I was amazed by the rapport that I could build with young students despite the language barrier. This showed me just how far enthusiasm can go!
During my second summer at Cambridge, I was chosen as one of three out of 110 applicants from Cambridge University to be one of the Cambridge Summer Teachers in Kenya. I taught geography, economics, politics and classics to students aged between 10 and 16. This involved simplifying and presenting university-level academic concepts and topical current affairs such to create lesson plans which were suitable for teenagers. I also organised and led extra-curricular activities such as quizzes and rugby training.
After graduation, I worked for four months on a water sports resort in Greece as a children's club rep. This ties in to one of my main passions- sport. I captained my college football first XI at university and was President of Oxbridge Varsity Surf. I am also a keen musician, and at university played the saxophone in a funk band, with whom I performed at various May Balls and other events.

George and I both studied at Cambridge together, where George’s passion for teaching was well known. He successfully obtained places on the most competitive summer teaching courses and always got brilliant reviews! He always went the extra mile around college, for example, by volunteering to coach the women’s football team alongside the men’s football team which he captained. As a person, he is very enthusiastic, charming and positive. I am sure he will be a fantastic tutor!
George and I took part in a two-week summer camp for secondary school students in Nairobi, Kenya.
