About Leon

I’m a British Chinese UK citizen who grew up in England but can also speak Chinese Mandarin and Cantonese fluently.

I graduated from Imperial College London (ranked 2nd in the world’s universities) with an undergraduate degree (BSc), then subsequently obtained a masters degree in Master of Business Administration (MBA), and completed my Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). So it is safe to say I have the knowledge, skills and experience in how to become successful academically.

Outside of the curriculum, I was the President of the Association of British and Chinese University Students (ABACUS). I love singing and have won over 30 competitions and have been on TV singing contests previously. I represented the UK Chinese football team in the youth Chinese World Cup. I also enjoy charity work and have been a volunteer teacher both in the UK and Hong Kong.

I’ll help my students not only to achieve academic success but also to become a well-rounded decent individual.

About the lesson

My teaching style is energetic, interactive, and fun, yet informative, professional, and caring. As a passionate educator, I believe in creating a positive, inspiring, and inclusive classroom habitat that supports children’s academic and social-emotional growth, and to become independent life-long learners.

Having taught in an Outstanding (Ofsted) central London Primary school for 3 years, I believe I have the know-how and experience to effectively facilitate and cater for the learning and well-being of my students. Before that, I’ve been a teacher of English as a foreign language (TEFL) and other KS1 and KS2 subjects for over 5 years. I'm especially proud of my previous Key Stage 1 groups as they contributed to the success of achieving one of the best national SAT results in the school's history, which was 30-40% higher than the national average.

I've passed with top grades in the official Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK level 5), which is the international standard test for Chinese language proficiency. My GCSE Chinese grade was A star, too.

I'm confident in teaching students of any age in Chinese Mandarin and Cantonese.
