About Yang

Hi! I'm Yang, a science and technology researcher with a strong academic background in mathematics, physics and quantum computing.
I moved to Australia in 2017 to pursue postgraduate studies and have since gained extensive experience in scientific research, analytical thinking and solving complex mathematical problems.
Throughout my academic journey, mathematics has been an essential part of my work. My research in quantum computing has involved applying advanced mathematical concepts to understand and solve challenging scientific problems.
However, I also understand that math can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when students are introduced to unfamiliar concepts.
I believe that math is not about being naturally gifted — it's about developing the right way of thinking, building strong foundations and gaining confidence through practice.
What I enjoy most about mathematics is the moment when a difficult concept suddenly makes sense. I'd love to help students experience that same feeling.
I'm patient, approachable and passionate about helping students develop their logical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
My goal is to make math less intimidating, more engaging and easier to understand, while helping each student build the confidence to tackle new challenges independently.

With a strong academic background in mathematics, physics and quantum computing research, I believe that anyone can become confident in maths with the right guidance and approach.
My teaching philosophy is simple: understanding is more important than memorisation. Rather than simply teaching students how to apply formulas, I focus on helping them understand why mathematical concepts work and how to approach problems logically.
My teaching approach:
- Personalised learning: I tailor each lesson to the student's current level, strengths, weaknesses and learning goals.
- Conceptual understanding: I break down complex mathematical ideas into simple, manageable steps, helping students build a solid foundation.
- Problem-solving skills: I encourage students to think independently, recognise patterns and develop logical reasoning skills.
- Practical examples: I use real-world applications where appropriate to make abstract mathematical concepts easier to understand.
- Confidence building: I provide a patient and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes.
Lesson details:
- Duration: Typically 60 minutes, with flexibility depending on individual needs.
- Levels: Primary school and high school students (Years 3–12).
- Subjects: General Mathematics, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus and Mathematical Problem Solving.
- Focus: Building mathematical foundations, improving school performance, homework support and exam preparation.
My goal is not simply to help students find the correct answers, but to help them develop the confidence and independent thinking skills needed to solve unfamiliar problems.
