About Vishal

Vishal is an award-winning and impact-driven trans-media producer with 7+ years of experience leading the end-to-end creative development and execution of advertising campaigns for global brands like Apple, Disney, and AMEX. Experienced in managing production workflow and budget ranging from $500K to $1.5M. Adept at branded storytelling, motion design, AR/VR integration and passionate about crafting community-centric content in the intersection of design thinking and emerging tech. What's different about this course? Multi-modal Learning: Having managed budgets from $500K to $1.7M, I teach students to think strategically about resource allocation and creative problem-solving under constraints. Adaptive Teaching Style: Unlike traditional film instructors who focus on single-medium expertise, I emphasize versatility and adaptability. Cultural Sensitivity: My work with global productions informs inclusive teaching practices that welcome diverse perspectives and storytelling traditions. Innovation-Focused Curriculum: My background in award-winning VR films and spatial audio positions me uniquely to teach emerging storytelling formats. Personalized Feedback: Drawing from my experience managing diverse international teams, I tailor guidance to each student's learning style and career aspirations.

About the lesson

Approach: "Design-Thinking Through Immersive Storytelling"

My teaching methodology centers on human-centered design thinking principles applied to filmmaking with emerging technologies. Rather than starting with technical tools, I begin with empathy—understanding the audience's emotional journey and then selecting the most effective medium to deliver that experience.

Methodology: The "SPARK" Framework

Each lesson follows my signature SPARK methodology:

S - Story Foundation
Begin with a compelling narrative hook related to the technical concept and connect the idea to broader storytelling principles.

P - Problem Identification
Students identify a specific storytelling challenge & brainstorm to solve it using design thinking techniques.

A - Active Exploration
Hands-on experimentation with tools (Unity, spatial audio, AR development) & students work in small teams to prototype.

R - Reflection & Refinement
Peer presentations, Critical analysis of what worked / what didn't and emphasis on "fail / redesign".

K - Knowledge Integration (10 minutes)
Assign reflection exercises for deeper processing and share real-world examples from my experience.
