About David
Hi there! I'm David - a fully qualified primary school teacher with over 10 years teaching experience. I've taught children with SEN, EAL, behavioural problems and gifted children, across all primary stages. In the past 2 years, I have been tutoring online.
Most of my teaching has been in Year 6, specialising in getting children ready for the 11+ exams (English, Maths, Verbal & Non Verbal) and SATs papers (Reading, SPaG & Maths). I know how tricky and confusing it can be for children - and parents - in the lead up to these tests. Whilst tutoring online, I have been specifically focusing on bridging gaps in children's learning for Maths and English, as well as prepping for relevant tests. My aim is to build your child's knowledge and confidence in every test paper, find their specific tricky areas and help them improve with targeted questioning and challenges - easing the pressure of testing overall.
I pride myself on being a motivator, someone who can inspire children to do their best, and plan tutoring lessons specifically to their needs and interests. My aim is to support childrens' learning and help them identify the areas they need to improve in - while making learning fun! I will help your child identify their areas for development and work on these through effective questioning, problem solving and follow up homework if you think it is needed.

I’d be happy to help with your Maths and Numeracy - I specialise in KS2 Maths and English, making sure children get to above the national standard. I’m an experienced and enthusiastic tutor (new to Tutorful) and have been a primary school teacher for over 10 years. Through effective questioning and a range of problem solving tasks, I ensure children are confident and working to a high standard across all of Maths (Arithmetic, Reasoning, Problem Solving etc). I’m currently only available as an Online tutor, but through screen sharing and interactive learning, children are fully engaged with their learning and only need pen and paper. Lessons are 1 hour.
