About Ava

I am a graduate of the Boston Conservatory at Berklee College of Music. I received my BFA in Contemporary Dance Performance with an emphasis in Choreography, graduating Summa Cum Laude. I also received my High School Diploma from The South Carolina Governor's School of the Arts.

I trained in ballet following the foundations of the Vaganova School. They are still the base of how I approach training and teaching ballet vocabulary. As a young student, I attended training programs at the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia Ballet, Carolina Ballet, and Arts Umbrella in Vancouver, B.C.

Whatever your goals are as a student or professional, I am here to help you reach your fullest potential. Do you want to feel more comfortable in more contemporary styles of movement? Does that solo you are working on need some polishing? I am here to help. My goal is always to have dance continue to be an outlet for expression and passion, an outlet we are so lucky to explore. A rule I have in the studio is that we continue to be kind to ourselves as we navigate, let's face it, a path that comes with its frustrations. I hope we can work together and that I can help guide you toward feeling confident in your next ventures!

About the lesson

I teach a variety of dance classes and styles:

Ballet privates and group classes consist of a typical class progression, with key focuses on strengthening and injury prevention. I also teach pointe work and have over 10 years of experience dancing en pointe.

Contemporary and modern classes will consist of elements of Horton technique, floorwork, and jazz influences. I bring a lot of my personal style into these classes, offering chances to delve into choreography for the students.

I am also available to choreograph solo and group works for studios with students from the beginner to pre-professional level.

Privates will consist of a lesson plan aimed to help students reach their individualized goals. I also love to incorporate journaling and cross-training into private lessons!

IMPORTANT TO KNOW:

You can book sessions with me in the Southern Pines/Pinehurst area beginning November 20th, 2024. I am currently traveling, but can message if you have any questions! Ciao!

My rate for online classes in $40/hour.
My rate for in-person private lessons is $80/hour (studio rental included) and $60/hr for shorter distance, at-home lessons.

Please message me if you are interested in a choreography commission for dance competitions or senior solos. Choreography for solo work will start at $90/hour.
