About Winnifred
Precision in spiccato and staccato bowing defines my technical foundation alongside ear training and refined bowing technique. Tuning by ear and grade exam preparation for ABRSM and Trinity curricula form the bedrock of my instruction. Developing the musical ear remains my primary focus because the hand follows the sound heard internally.
Sixteen years spent performing in professional orchestras across North America refined my capacity to listen deeply to every nuance. Nineteen years of teaching Suzuki methods to countless students informs my rigorous yet warm approach toward instruction. Is internal sound clarity an important part of your current musical practice?

You will find that 10.0 out of 10 aspects of our time together center on active listening and deliberate physical movement. Instruction often feels like a conversation about balance where your physical posture meets the demands of complex musical phrasing.
Because I hold a BMus from the Rice University Shepherd School of Music, my feedback remains rooted in high level conservatory standards. I integrate specific skill building into every interaction to ensure your bowing technique grows alongside your broader musicianship. Parental involvement is essential for younger learners as we navigate these rigorous demands together. Watching the light turn on when a difficult passage finally rings true is the most enjoyable part of this work.
