About Rhea
I have trained in classical dance for many years, with a strong foundation in the Kalakshetra style and influences from the Pandanallur style. My training has emphasized precision, clarity of movement, strong araimandi, and expressive storytelling. Alongside learning, I have also gained teaching experience, which has helped me understand how different dancers learn and progress at their own pace. I value discipline and technique, but I also believe dance should be enjoyable, meaningful, and personally expressive.

My teaching approach combines strong foundational technique with creativity and enjoyment. I start by assessing each student’s current level and personal goals, whether they are learning for performance, fitness, examinations, or personal passion. I focus on building body awareness, rhythm, posture, and expression through structured, progressive learning. For children, I incorporate games and storytelling to keep lessons engaging, while for adults I adjust pacing and choreography to suit their comfort, confidence, and learning style.
Atypical class would last about 45-60 mins depending on the dancer's level and comfort
1. Warm-Up & Body Conditioning
Gentle joint mobilization, stretching, and breathing exercises to build body awareness, improve flexibility, and prevent injury. Warm-ups are adjusted based on age, experience, and physical comfort.
2. Technique & Movement Practice
Focused practice on foundational movements, posture, rhythm, coordination, and footwork. Exercises progress gradually in complexity, ensuring students build strength, control, and confidence.
3. Choreography / Dance Practice
Application of technique through short choreographic sequences or repertoire. Emphasis is placed on musicality, expression, and storytelling, with pacing tailored to the dancer’s level and stamina.
4. Theory, Reflection & Cool-Down
Brief discussion of dance theory, terminology, rhythm, or cultural context, followed by light stretching and reflection. This helps reinforce understanding while allowing the body to cool down safely.
