About Grant

I'm a soft-spoken jazz nerd from the Midwest (shoutout Cleveland!) that's spent over 20 years playing piano and immersing myself in vocal harmony. I'm the founding member and arranger for the internationally-acclaimed vocal jazz quartet The Bean Tones, and an in-demand gigging jazz pianist on the Los Angeles music scene.

About the lesson

Learning to become fluent in the language of music can and should be fun! Like learning any language, immersion is key, and I employ a healthy balance of theory, ear training, technical exercises tailored to each students' personal interests. My extensive education in music school settings and gigging in the jazz scene have made breaking down complex musical topics into digestible chunks second nature.

Whether you're starting at day one, gearing up to audition for music schools, or just looking to take your passion for music to the next level, I'm here as a mentor, friend, and guide to help take you there!

Grant is a frequent collaborator with me! We’ve known each other for years now and throughout all of the projects we have done together, I cannot recommend anybody more than him! He has a more than extensive knowledge of piano and vocal technique, music theory, jazz, arranging, composition, and overall an insane level of musicality that can inspire anyone to want to learn! He is the nicest person i’ve worked with, and he does his best to make sure every student gets an amazing start/continuation of their music journey! His attention to detail and determination is unparalleled and makes for the best qualities for being the best teacher!
