About Wanderson

I'm an English teacher with over 13 years of experience teaching children, teenagers and adults. Currently based in Australia, I hold a Bachelor of Education in English Language and Literature, with my degree recognised by VETASSESS, the official skills assessment authority in Australia, as equivalent to an Australian Bachelor degree (AQF) with TESOL qualification. I also achieved a score of 90 in the PTE Academic, equivalent to C2 level on the CEFR.

My lessons are student-centred and focused on developing confidence and communication in everyday English. I aim to make learning natural, light and effective, with dynamic activities adapted to each student's goals.

For children, I use a playful and interactive approach, with songs, stories, games and communicative activities that spark interest and support fluency development. I combine renowned materials such as those from Pearson with personalised strategies, always with patience, empathy and a touch of humour, creating a welcoming environment where students feel safe to learn and express themselves.

For teenagers and adults, I offer structured and personalised lessons, whether for school support, general development, work, travel, conversation, job interview preparation, CV and cover letter writing, as well as academic English and skills used in international exams.

My lessons are structured around renowned materials from international publishers such as Pearson, Cambridge and Oxford, ensuring clear progression aligned with international teaching standards. All materials are provided during lessons, so there is no need to purchase books.

Students can choose between conversation-focused lessons or a structured course with a textbook, allowing gradual development from A1 to C2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

    Quando eu era criança, eu sempre tive muita facilidade de transmitir o que eu aprendia, não somente com inglês, mas com outras matérias também. Meus colegas de classe me pediam para explicar a matéria toda vez que eles não conseguiam entender o que o professor ensinava, então começaram a surgir comentários e incentivos para eu me tornar professor.
  • Você teve uma inserção a cultura inglesa ou americana? Se sim, o que mais te cativou e qual o principal desafio linguístico encontrado?

    O que mais me encantou e continua me encantando é o "mar" de benefícios e oportunidades que um segundo idioma, principalmente o inglês, traz consigo: cultura, conhecimento, novos amigos, uma visão diferente e mais ampla, oportunidade de viajar, estudar e morar em qualquer lugar do mundo. Acredito que a maior dificuldade que eu encontrei tanto como aluno quanto professor é o fato de que o tempo necessário para ser tornar fluente em um idioma está diretamente relacionado ao tempo que você se expõe e vivencia o idioma.

    Eu gostaria de citar Steve Kaufmann, um poliglota canadense que fala mais de 12 idiomas fluentemente. Ele foi uma das pessoas que mais me motivou a estudar um terceiro e quarto idioma, e me fez ter uma visão diferente sobre outras formas de alcançar a fluência. Além de me fazer apaixonar por seu país, Canadá.
  • Qual a expressão, palavra ou tradição anglófona que você considera bem típico e que goste bastante?

    Eu quero deixar duas citações que gosto muito: A different language is a different vision of life. (Federico Fellini) With languages, you are at home anywhere. (Edmund de Waal).
  • Hoje o inglês é uma língua de extrema importância tanto no âmbito profissional, assim como pessoal e acadêmico. Na sua experiência como professor(a), qual destes âmbitos é o que mais impulsiona os alunos a aprenderem e porquê?

    Quando eu converso com professores de idiomas que não sejam o inglês, eu fico surpreso em saber que todos os alunos deles estudam porque amam o idioma e a cultura. Quando eu converso com outros professores de inglês, percebo que muitos alunos são mais impulsionados pelo âmbito profissional e acadêmico, muitos deles prefeririam estudar outro idioma como o espanhol, francês, italiano, etc. Acredito que isso ocorra pelo fato desses idiomas citados terem mais afinidade com o português, tornando o aprendizado um pouco mais fácil aparentemente.
  • Qual a principal dificuldade da língua inglesa e como superá-la?

    Cada aluno tem uma dificuldade diferente, alguns dizem ser a pronúncia outros dizem ser a compreensão. Todo idioma tem sua peculiaridade, o que torna fácil para uns e difícil para outros, no entanto as duas maiores dificuldades, no aprendizado de qualquer idioma, são a impaciência e a desmotivação. Um idioma é algo muito complexo que vai além de memorizar vocabulário e aprender regras gramaticais, é algo vivo que está em constante mudança, pois está diretamente ligado a cultura de cada país. Esse processo de aprendizagem costuma demorar alguns anos. Mas, infelizmente, muitos alunos desistem no começo. A melhor forma de superar esse problema é tornar o inglês parte da sua vida diária ao invés de apenas um curso. Tente fazer coisas que você faria no seu idioma, no entanto em inglês, como ouvir músicas, assistir desenhos, séries, filmes, ler livros, colocar o celular e redes sociais em inglês. Com isso você continua fazendo as coisas que gosta e aprende inglês ao mesmo tempo. Quanto mais você evoluir, mais opções vão surgir.
  • Durante as aulas, qual a curiosidade mais 'fun' ou 'weird' que costuma acontecer com recorrência?

    Quem é professor sempre tem várias histórias engraçadas ou esquisitas para contar, especialmente quando dá aulas para crianças e adolescentes, pois elas costumam fazer associações entre as palavras do inglês e português. Por exemplo, uma vez um eu dei o comando "in pairs" (em pares) e os alunos se colocaram de pé, pois a pronúncia é parecida com "em pé" em português. Uma coisa que todo aluno adulto acha esquisito é a pronúncia do "TH" em inglês, pois você precisa colocar a ponta da língua entre os dentes superiores e inferiores para fazer o som corretamente.
