Super tutor

Jeff is one of the best tutors in Bass guitar. They have a high-quality profile, verified qualifications, a quick response time, and great reviews from students!

About Jeff

Multi-instrumentalist with a background in jazz (McGill University in Montreal, Canada), rock, blues, hip-hop, R&B and ska/reggae. Since 2008, I have accumulated numerous stage and studio experiences. I have been teaching music for 14 years. I offer lessons on guitar, piano, bass, ukulele, singing and music theory. My students are of all ages and skill levels.

EXPERIENCES:
• Guitarist, bassist and pianist for over 20 years
• Bachelor of Music in Jazz Guitar, McGill University (Montreal, Canada)
• Degree in Professional Music and Song Techniques, Vanier College (Montreal, Canada)
• Hundreds of concerts since 2008 (touring guitarist for hip-hop group Dubmatique from 2017 to 2019)
• Albums released with a variety of musical projects including: Jeff Lauber, Ska Sound System (with Franz Schuller of GrimSkunk), Osmosis Unlimited (with John Jordan of Me, Mom & Morgentaler), Fidès, The Vare

About the lesson

During our first lesson, I assess the student's skill level to design a personalized training program (practical and theoretical). Then, we define one or more learning objectives to develop the student's artistic skills. Through the lessons, I guide the student to train their ear in a fun way with the instrument of their choice. I can also help prepare students for live on-stage performances. Last but not least, I love sharing my passion for music with my students and interacting with them.

SKILLS:
• Proficiency on a variety of musical instruments (guitar, bass, piano, ukulele)
• Mastery of music theory
• Audio engineering and mixing
• Music production
• Ability on various software (Logic Pro, Ableton, Pro Tools, Sibelius, MuseScore)

Jeff's a great teacher to learn from! He's accommodating with scheduling but also with learning for whatever goal you have. Whether it's by using a method book, a song, or just exercises, he guides and follows along very well while catering to your needs and preferences. His knowledge also extends beyond the instrument such as music theory, composition, musicianship, or even practical things like where to find used gear. But most importantly, he keeps music fun and that's a great source of motivation for improving my bass skills.
