About Justin
Justin R. Romine is an award-winning filmmaker, published author, and experienced educator with a passion for helping younger and older students tell stories with confidence and creativity. Originally from outside Chicago, Illinois, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Film from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he studied under filmmaker David Schmoeller. Justin developed a two-year Film Certificate program approved by the Board of Regents for the University of New Mexico and has taught filmmaking, screenwriting, acting, and creative writing at both the university and college levels. He has also taught acting classes for children ages 5 to 13 through the Belvidere, Illinois YMCA, giving him extensive experience working with younger students. He is the author of A Bard’s Tale: A Collection of Poetry Inspired by Ireland and Her People and Short Stories for People with Short Attention Spans. Justin currently lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with his two daughters and believes in creating a fun, supportive, and age-appropriate learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore their creativity.

I am an Award Winning Filmmaker, Actor, Editor and former Professor of Film at The University of New Mexico where I created a 2 Year Film Certificate in Film Production that was approved by the Board of Regents. I take a very hands on approach and let the students learn by doing. If you want to write a screenplay, that’s exactly what you’ll do. If you want to learn how to act, that’s how you’ll learn. I will give valuable feedback throughout every lesson and point you in the right direction to continue.
