About Finn

I started playing the drums at the age of four and early on also picked up other percussion instruments, as well as piano. In 2022, I completed my Bachelor of Music in Germany. I was awarded a scholarship for my grad studies in New York City and just finished my Master of Music at CCNY in Spring '24. As a performer, I got to play with lots of professional bands and jazz ensembles all over Europe and also here in NYC. I have played and toured with renowned jazz musicians such as Pablo Held, Florian Ross, and Ray Gallon. While playing mostly jazz these days, I still love and enjoy all kinds of genres, such as funk, Latin, rock, pop, etc. Over the years, I also collected a lot of experience as a teacher. Since 2016 I've been teaching private students of all ages in Germany and now here in NYC. This last spring semester I was teaching the Undergrad Jazz ensembles at CCNY as a substitute professor and in April '24 I got invited to teach a Masterclass at "Struttin Jazz", a music school in Mexico City. About the lesson

Whether you’re a beginner, an intermediate player or becoming professional – my goal is to always meet the student at where they are and guide them to where they want to go musically. My philosophy is to always make playing and learning music all about having joy and expressing yourself. (after all it’s "PLAYing music”!)
At the same time I will establish fundamentals and a good technique on the drums to push you to new possibilities.
I am open to any music style, be it rock, pop, hip-hop, jazz, afro-cuban, metal, reggae, K-pop or classical!
In addition to drums I’m also happy to teach music theory and piano lessons for beginners/intermediate.

Perfect! Finn is a professional drummer! Drums is his life. Very passionate and knowledgeable. He gave me pretty good piece of advice for things that I was no able to overcome without him.

Sergey already has a lot of musical knowledge and experience, which helps a lot! He knows what he wants to play and what it should sound like. I'm helping him with getting the right technique and how to train independence of the limbs to make progress. Also we will focus on drum notation.

No matter how much spare time I had, Finn had always show me something that I could work on quickly that was engaging and helped me improve. He has not only taught me how to read a drum chart, but also how to read piano music so I can follow along with the melodies and chord changes I am playing along too. He’s constantly showing me cool music to listen too, and I feel that he really listens to me and my musical interests. I’ve also gone to see him perform, and he is one of the best out there, really!
