Derek Green II is an essayist, poet, author, and passionate English educator, currently teaching at a local high school. With a deep commitment to nurturing student voices, Derek believes in starting where each student is—guiding them to elevate their expression through patient, thoughtful instruction. A Typical Lesson Plan
Each class begins by grounding the literature in its historical and biographical context—understanding the time and the author gives depth to their work. From there, we dive into student-led analysis: What moves you? What challenges you? We examine how your own lens influences your understanding of a text. And always, we recognize the important distinction between the creator and the creation.

What Sets Me Apart
As a published essayist, author, and poet, I bring a real-world understanding of language as art. My background allows me to help students not only read literature but also write with sophistication and intention.
