About Lia

My name is Lia. I was born and raised in Moldova, but I moved to the Netherlands to study the History of Art, Architecture, and Landscape at the University of Groningen. I did my exchange semester at the State University of New York in Geneseo, New York, USA, focusing on Creative Writing and Theater Studies. I am currently an acting student at the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, Ireland. However, I have never stopped critically thinking about art and its societal relevance. I love visiting museums and reading/writing exhibition reviews.

About the lesson

I teach the history of art and architecture, starting with the nineteenth century and ending with contemporary installations. I provide general knowledge about art historical periods and notions, analyzing how material and immaterial objects are a product of societal developments and discovering how art is directly affected by society, and vice versa. I can help anyone interested in art get closer to understanding art, or I can create personalized lessons for students to understand college-level art historical topics. My main interest is Conceptual & Performance Art, and my thesis topic explored the use of the body as a socio-political tool during the Cold War.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Lia as a tutor. She has a calm and patient presence that immediately puts people at ease. No matter the situation, she takes the time to listen to everyone and make sure every voice is heard, while still keeping the group focused on what needs to be done or solved.

What I admire most about her is her kindness and steady approach, and she is always willing to help others. Her thoughtful attitude and sense of responsibility make her not only a reliable teammate but also an excellent guide for anyone who needs support or clarification.

I am confident that her gentle and organised way of working will make her a great tutor who brings out the best in others.
