About Joshua

With over 10 years of playing experience, I trained at the Primary Royal Academy of Music and the Rachmaninoff Music Academy, won prizes at the North London and New Talent festivals, and held three music scholarships, including at the City of London School and Haileybury.

Having balanced conservatoire-level violin with rigorous academic studies, and now preparing for medical school and my second diploma alongside running an environmental technology venture, I understand the reality faced by ambitious London students.

Young violinists in this situation rarely have hours of time free for practice. I want to teach and offer dedicated practice supervision to help younger students reach academy and scholarship standards without sacrificing their other goals. By treating violin technique and practice as a logical, solvable puzzle rather than only a product of time invested, I help students build technical fluency in a fraction of the time.

Very happy to provide certifications and documents, please let me know!

About the lesson

My practice and teaching philosophy is based on careful separation of the various technical elements. When a student finds a fast passage difficult to play fluently, instead of just repeating it many times at various tempos, I decompose the passage into its fundamental bowings and rhythms, repeating the passage with one specific bowing pattern each time until all potential patterns have been covered. This builds true technical fluency which translates much better to other pieces.
