About Melanie
I have been teaching piano since I was 14 years old. It’s been over 30 years. I love one on one instruction, getting to know each individual student. I have learned the most efficient way to teach note reading, as it is similar to learning a different language. I am very patient in this process. I am a mom of 5 kids who are mostly grown now. I received a piano teaching certificate from the royal conservatory of music in Calgary, AB Canada when I was 19. I like to sing, go to church, dance, and watch movies with my daughters at home. My favorite vacation is cruising.

I am clear in my instructions, I like to teach what students are interested in. I usually follow the faber method books to learn basics and then supplement with fun/popular music and some technique and theory. I am very good with all ages, especially children and beginners. I am encouraging and kind. I have many in person students that love their lessons. I also teach online and did throughout the Covid years.
