About Amber
I am finishing my Honours Bachelor of Arts as a Sociocultural Anthropology specialist at UofT. I'm passionate about humanities, social sciences, music, and creative expression. I was a peer tutor in high school for Spanish, English, and Math, and scored well in AP exams as well as the SAT. As an international student, I learned about ESL and TOEFL prep from my own experience and I would love to share those experiences with students. I have been a peer mentor for international students at UofT and a mentor for new anthropology students. I have also been an editor for academic articles for various student journals.
I'm fluent in Mandarin and have played the violin and piano for many years; I'd love to offer those lessons or a combination of lessons upon request as well. Can also review and help edit personal statement, resume, and essays.
I scored 1510 out of 1600 on the SAT in 2017, and a 111 out of 120 on TOEFL. I would love to discuss and customize test prep plans for individuals according to your learning styles and specific goals.

I approach teaching from a holistic, empathetic way, aiming to help students develop an appreciation for the subject matter--or even a sense of confidence and mastery.
I can help students throughout the entire test prep process for TOFEL and SAT, including schedule creation, assessment, reviewing key concepts, and explaining difficult problems.
For non-test prep courses, I would create course schedule and prepare content for each lesson and related practices & readings. I encourage discussion, feedback, and questions at any stage of learning.
