About Jessica
I follow the communicative approach when teaching English; that is, I focus on developing listening, reading, writing and speaking skills through interesting and fun lessons. My classes are completely in English in order to create an immersive environment. There is no “easy” way to learn a new language, but there are ways to learn faster and more efficiently. For example, did you know that English has more than 150,000 words, but you only need to know 3,000 of these most common words to watch an English show on Netflix? So we will spend 20% of the time learning new things (the most useful vocabulary, most common grammar, etc.) and 80% of the time practicing these things together. We will discuss subjects you are interested in and expressions you will use daily. That way, you will learn faster and acquire the English language more efficiently. The key word here is efficiency. Hi people! My name is Jessica and I am American living in Sao Paulo. I arrived in Brazil in March 2019, but before that I was studying Portuguese in Washington, DC. I've always loved to study foreign languages (in the past I studied French, German, and Spanish. I currently study Mandarin and Portuguese.) I think when we learn a new language, we open new doors in our lives. We can meet different people, understand different ideas, and appreciate the diversity that exists in our world! For that reason I would like to help you improve your English level and reach your goals. I like to talk about traveling, art, culture, languages, food, and music. I also enjoy watching videos on Youtube and eating brigadeiro.
