About Aliya

I have always excelled in the coding aspects of Computing Science, but achieving this required significant self-learning throughout high school and university. I now aim to help others build strong coding skills, succeed in computing, and break into STEM careers.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed to build both understanding and practical skills in Computing Science, following the most up-to-date SQA course guidelines. Each topic combines: Concepts & Theory – Clear explanations of key principles, such as Inputs, Processes, Outputs (IPO), modular design, arrays, SQL joins, or HTML structure. Worked Examples – Step-by-step demonstrations to show how the concepts are applied in code or projects. Hands-On Practice – Guided exercises, from writing functions and procedures, SQL queries, and file handling, to designing websites with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Evaluation & Extension – Assessing fitness for purpose, maintainability, and exploring extensions like error handling, sorting algorithms, responsive design, and data validation. Lessons cover analysis of problems, designing solutions, and the structured implementation of code, giving students the skills to plan, organise, and develop robust programmes. I also bring experience from working as a teaching assistant for an S2 Computing Science class, where I supported pupils in learning and explained concepts aligned with the school curriculum. Each session is interactive and tailored to the student’s pace, ensuring concepts are understood and skills are confidently applied, fully aligned with current SQA standards.
