About Kaushik

Hi, I am Kaushik, a classical violist, with 12 years of playing experience on Viola and Violin, I feel I am able to easily relate to anyone with a passion or interest for music and to help those similar to myself! I know firsthand, the struggles of practising relentlessly to pass a particular grade or exam and balancing it with life commitments, as music is one of many of my interests! That's why I like to tailor my sessions to the needs of each student and work at their own pace because everyone is different! I started playing the viola when I was 10 years old. Originally picking up the violin, I fell in love with both instruments, but I primarily tend to play the viola in chamber ensembles and orchestras. I've been a principal violist in multiple orchestras, including the Northamptonshire Youth Orchestra, The University of Leicester Orchestra, the Leicester Symphony Orchestra, and the Knighton Chamber Orchestra. I have also performed at venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and the Birmingham Symphony Hall!

About the lesson

Being a recent university graduate myself, I know how hard it gets to balance life commitments and hobbies, so, I aim to tailor each session to the needs of the student and work at their own pace, because everyone's approach to learning is different! A typical lesson ranges from 45 minutes a week to 2 hours a week (completely open to discussion based on your preference) and is open to any ability - from complete beginners to grade 7 standard.

In terms of my qualifications, I have achieved distinction grades within my ABRSM Grade 8 in viola performance. I am currently working towards my diploma. I have 4 years of experience teaching violin to students 1-1, ranging from complete beginners, GCSE music students, and adults. (I am also fully DBS-checked.)
