As a graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Studies from the Australian National University (ANU) and a current IT professional in the public sector, I bring a wealth of knowledge and real-world experience to my mathematics tutoring. My approach is tailored to meet the unique needs of each student, helping them build both confidence and competence in mathematics.
Approach and Methodology:
I believe that everyone can succeed in mathematics with the right guidance and support. My teaching methodology is based on understanding each student’s individual learning style and adapting my lessons accordingly. I take a hands-on, interactive approach, ensuring that students not only understand mathematical concepts but also develop critical problem-solving skills.
Key aspects of my tutoring include:
- Personalised Learning: Every student is different. I design each lesson based on the student's current skill level, strengths, and specific challenges. Whether you're working through basic arithmetic or tackling complex calculus problems, I adjust the pace and teaching methods to suit your needs.
- Real-World Relevance: With my background in actuarial studies and IT, I bring a practical perspective to mathematics. I incorporate real-life applications of mathematical concepts, from statistics and probability to data analysis and financial modelling, which helps students appreciate the value of what they're learning.
- Conceptual Mastery: While helping students complete homework and assignments is important, I place equal emphasis on understanding the underlying principles. This deeper understanding ensures that students can apply their knowledge to a wide range of problems, both in school and beyond.
- Targeted Support: I work closely with students to ensure they are on track with their schoolwork, providing targeted support based on upcoming exams or assignments. This proactive approach ensures they feel fully prepared for tests, quizzes, and long-term academic success.
Typical Length of a Lesson:
Lessons typically range from 60 to 90 minutes. This allows sufficient time to introduce new concepts, work through problems, and review key ideas without overwhelming the student. For students requiring more intensive preparation, longer sessions can be arranged. Flexibility is key to ensuring students receive the right amount of support to achieve their goals.
Qualifications and Experience:
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Studies from the Australian National University (ANU), where I gained in-depth knowledge in subjects such as probability theory, statistics, financial mathematics, and advanced calculus. My academic background in mathematics is complemented by my professional experience working as an IT professional in the public sector, where I apply mathematical and analytical skills in real-world settings.
Who Are My Lessons For?
I provide tailored tutoring for students of all ages and skill levels. My lessons are designed for anyone looking to improve their mathematical understanding or prepare for exams. This includes:
- Primary and Secondary school students: Whether you're just starting with basic arithmetic or need help with advanced high school topics like calculus and statistics, I can guide you through every stage of your learning.
- Senior students preparing for exams
- Adult learners interested in developing or refreshing their mathematics skills, whether for professional development or personal growth.
Each lesson is crafted to meet the specific needs of the student, ensuring that they receive relevant, high-quality tutoring that helps them succeed in school and beyond.
